"The Wagoner's Lad" - Neuland Consort feat. Sam Amidon

"The Wagoner's Lad", originating in England, became a popular ballad in the United States with many versions collected by Cecil Sharp, Alan Lomax and others. One of the early goals of the Neuland Consort was to explore the viol consort as a "backing band" for various musical genres. I had dreamt for some time of arranging a song for Sam Amidon, one of my absolute favorite musicians, and in the summer of 2022, when Sam was an invited artist at the Monheim Trienalle, we managed to make it happen. Despite being very rushed thanks to faulty GPS and technical issues we were able to document that morning together.
