Charging Lithium ion and EBike Batteries Whilst Driving

It started out as an experiment.
Q. ‘Would it be possible to recharge Lithium and Lithium Ebike batteries whilst driving?’ Using just their own chargers powered by onboard Gel leisure batteries via 400w inverter.
A. Yes it works for us with no issues to date.

Why 48v Lithium? Apparently they are safer and it is all we had to hand at the time of original tests. All the original tests were carried out charging a 48v 23ah Ebike battery. It is important to note that that all tests and actual use of this method were carried out only whilst driving or engine was running, so as not to deplete the Gel leisure batteries – And battery levels were monitored live using a Streetwise Bluetooth monitoring app.
Since then I have added 2 x Greenway 48v 20ah lithium batteries/power packs and all the above methods work with these as well. Which means in essence our Lithium batteries are now portable (greenway 48v 20ah 4.5k) and can be used both in van and also to power the Ebike plus trolling motor on a kayak.
Footnote: Fortunately (as it seems) ours being an earlier motorhome does not have a smart alternator. Which means that ours is a constant voltage alternator and was ideal for this project. As it says on the tin ‘Constant voltage output’ whether when driving or any time engine is running.
I will be uploading more videos in the coming months.
