La historia de JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure se centra la familia Joestar y su rivalidad con Dio Brando. La obra abarca varias generaciones, teniendo cada una de ellas un descendiente de los Joestar como protagonista, así como un gran número de personajes. En la familia Joestar hay un gran poder que se materializa de distintas maneras, aunque la más popular son los “stands”, unos avatares que personifican el poder interior de cada personaje. Dio Brando, así como sus descendientes, también poseen el poder, robado a la familia Joestar.
