Raising Butterflies With Our Grandson Using The Butterfly Farm Kit From Insect Lore - Easy And Fun!

We love doing fun and educational projects with our grandson! Since he's always been very interested in animals and bugs, we decided to try raising butterflies with him. We bought a Butterfly Farm kit from InsectLore.com, a company we have had very good experiences with. In fact, using kits we've purchased from them, we have raised not only butterflies, but also Ladybugs and Praying Mantises, all with great results. We've raised butterflies once before, but the first time we did it, we had a different kind of habitat/enclosure for them. It was a tall and cylindrical, covered in a fabric mesh material, which obscured your vision slightly. But the Butterfly Farm was a great improvement! It is four-sided, with mesh on three sides and a big clear plastic window on the fourth side. This made it much easier to observe the butterflies, and our grandson definitely enjoyed watching them move, flap their wings, and feed on the sugar water and watermelons we gave them.

It was definitely a fun and educational project, and it was a little bittersweet to release them outside when the time came to let them go. Our grandson learned a lot and so did we...what more can you ask! Thank you, Insect Lore!
