I remember a while back when it was reported that the Raspberry Pi 2 would fall into reset when it got its picture taken... at first, I actually thought this was a click-bait kind of story, but it was actually true! It turns out that wafer level packages are susceptible to high intensity light, and what's happening here is the photoelectric effect: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/xeno...

So, once I discovered that the Arduino 101 board has a wafer level part (USB Load Switch) and after someone reminded me of this in the comments, I had to test it! So far, the failure mode appears to be recoverable and no permanent damage seems to have been done... we'll check back on this later with some other scenarios.
