This was the encore for the 2023-2024 spring concert for the SFJazz All-Stars at the SFJazz Center, on Sunday, May 12th, 2024, under the direction of Paul Contos. For their closer, they played arguably the greatest trombone feature in big band history, On The Sunny Side of the Street by John Clayton, featuring their amazing trombone section.

This chart is an all time favorite of mine (second only to Gordon Goodwin’s “Hunting Wabbits) and these musicians REALLY pulled it off, this band is full of absolutely amazing musicians and it was so motivating to see all of them perform.
