It is not the voting, per se, that is a waste of time. It is voting in a process so flawed and so illegal; the result is predetermined and you participate only to give the process the modicum of legitimacy. The question one must ask is why do people keep participating in such a process for 45 years and counting, in our case?

Answer: they are so ignorant, naive and gullible they have been conned again and again to participate.

Free, fair and credible elections are more than a basic right, they are the essence of good governance. Rigged elections are a curse and the father of bad governance. Those who rig elections would want people to give up the vote so they remain in power. To give up the right to free and fair elections is therefore foolish. “Kuramwira makudo munda!” as the Shona would say!

The solution is not to give up voting as a waste of time but to educate the people so that they are not conned into participating in flawed elections because the believed such idiotic lies like “I have plugged all vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!”

Many of the two million Chamisa chete chete brigade members who believe Chamisa’s idiotic lie CCC would win 2023 have accepted that Chamisa lied to them. Alas! There are still many other who still refuse to accept that Chamisa is a liar and a conman. The truth must be hammered into their empty heads.

Chamisa & co. are gearing to con the nation into participating in flawed 2028 elections on the basis that in participating the people will be stopping Mnangagwa tampering with the constitution to extend his stay in power beyond 2028. This is just as meaningless as the people supporting the 2017 military coup the swapped one dictator for another.

If Zanu PF rigs 2028 elections and get away with it because people participated in the flawed elections in their millions the nation will still be stuck with the Zanu PF dictatorship or be it may have yet another dictator to replace Mnangagwa.

If the people forced Zanu PF to hold free and fair elections, the party will lose the elections. If Zanu PF refuse to implement any reforms, which is a certainty, then people must in turn, for once, refuse to participate in the flawed elections and thus deny the regime legitimacy. Zanu PF was forced into the GNU in 2008 because it was denied legitimacy the same will happen again in 2028.

If there is a lesson to be learned from 2017 coup it is the futility of trying to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by picking of one dictator at a time. Dictators are nothing but the snakes on Medusa’s head, to kill them all severe Medusa’s head, as the Greek hero Perseus did!
