Additional storage spaces are always useful on the farm. They can be made of the most unexpected materials.
Most often, these are baskets made of cardboard boxes, they are made easily, since there is a basis, and ennobling is the most pleasant activity. If everything is done carefully and with love, then the baskets made are not worse than the purchased ones.
Among my favorites are fabric baskets, they look cozy and homey.
When choosing a material, it is better to choose dense fabrics, such as burlap, but in principle, any one will do. The main thing is to use a lining that holds the shape when sewing.
Suitable construction isolon and sintepon. I used both materials, but I prefer sintepon, since in order to stitch the isolon, you need to put something under the foot, since when sewing it sticks, as it were.
I use a thin sintepon. When ironing, it is compressed and becomes similar in quality to felt. At a high temperature of the iron, the sintepon should be put under the fabric.
1) The basket I want to offer has an unusual shape in the form of a flower.
2) For sewing, you will need 4 basic calico parts, as well as 4 lining parts and 4 non-woven fabric parts. As you can see, the shape of the pattern is unusual.
3) It is necessary to cut so that all the details "look" in one direction.
How to sew:
I smoothed the non-woven fabric to the details of the basket, I did the same with the sintepon. Now all the parts are soft and hard.
I sewed all the parts together according to the scheme. It turned out like a fan.
I made notches on each curved side.
Connected the straight and curved sides with pins, stitched. I smoothed the seams.
I sewed the lining according to this pattern. When you stitch the lining, it is necessary to lay the lines from the edge by 1 mm more. If on the main part it is 5 mm from the edge, then on the lining it is 6 mm from the edge. This is done so that the lining inside does not bulge, but fits perfectly.
Connected the two parts of the basket with the front sides inwards and stitched along the upper edge, leaving room for turning out.
There is a decorative stitch along the edge.
The basket is suitable for storing yarn, fabrics, lace, small toys and other small things.
