Students Sensitized on Gambia 88, Empowered Through Song Composition Training

Students of Koba Kunda Senior Secondary School were sensitized on the Gambia 88 initiative and empowered with practical skills in song composition following a capacity-building training held at Kuntaya Village, North Bank Region, from 7th to 9th November 2025.

Upon their return, the President and Vice President of the KobaKunda88 Club, with the guidance and support of their teacher coordinators, organized a step-down training to ensure that the knowledge and skills acquired were cascaded to the wider student body.

The workshop was successfully conducted on 15th November 2026 at the school’s computer laboratory, attracting an impressive turnout of students. Participants actively engaged in the sessions, as student leaders shared their experiences and key lessons learned during the Kuntaya training.

A major highlight of the workshop was a hands-on song-writing session, where students were introduced to the fundamentals of song composition. Participants were divided into groups, and each group was tasked with composing an original song, allowing students to creatively express their ideas while reinforcing the messages of the Gambia 88 campaign.

The training proved to be both educational and inspiring, strengthening peer learning, creativity, and student leadership within the school community.
