If you’re a qualified teacher looking for a fantastic way to build your career and expand your horizons, teaching in Canada is perfect for you. Canadian teachers are among the highest-paid globally and receive life insurance, comprehensive healthcare, and dental insurance, to name a few benefits.

Several immigration programs allow you to move to Canada to work as a teacher. Two of the most accessible and popular pathways are the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Provincial Nominee Programs, or PNPs for short.

The Federal Skilled Worker Program is designed to allow qualified professionals to gain permanent residency in Canada. To apply through this program, you must have work experience in either:

A managerial occupation;
A professional occupation or;
A trade.

If you know what specific province you'd want to teach in, the PNP is for you. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows 11 out of the 13 Canadian provinces to nominate immigrants they feel can positively impact their province's economy. Each province has its requirements for a nomination, so you must research your chosen province before applying.

The PNPs are:
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NW PNP)
Newfoundland & Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NL PNP)
Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP)
Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NS PNP)
Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP)
Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)
Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)
