Well, this wasn't technically a maiden, but on the first battery I was getting the tail gyro modes and gains sorted. In this flight I work on them a little more as well as the transmitter settings. Keep in mind, this is my first time ever flying a CP heli. I have flown acro quads quite a bit.

My transmitter is a JR x9503. Here are the settings I'm using, broken down by flight mode:
Normal:
Ail, ele, and rud expos all at 15%. 30% is default but was too high for me.
Gyro is on rud d/r switch, switching between 50 and 75% (default is 50% and 55% but this was much too low. I kept low at 50 because this retains the ability to enter rate mode)
Throttle curve (JR is 7 point and Align uses 5 point so it took some modification over default): 0, 28, 49, 65, INH, INH, 100
Pitch curve (same issue of 7 vs 5 point): 35, 65.5, 74, 93. This gives me roughly -3 to 8 degrees with hover around mid stick

Idle up:
Expos are the same for the moment
Throttle curve is 90% across the board, per Align defaults
Pitch Curve is linear 0 to 100%

I have throttle hold set to give me the Normal mode pitch curve with 0% throttle. If nothing else its good as a safety switch and to check collective travel on the ground.
