Continuing on with the Red River Gorge hiking series, on the 4th day of my trip, I visited several shorter trails along my drive on the Chimney Top Road Route 10. This includes the Chimney Top Trail and the Princess Arch trail. The Whistling Arch was located further down the Route 715 roadway loop around the gorge.

Princess Arch is a short out and back trail, approximately a quarter mile each way, with a loop around the arch region. Across the parking lot from the Princess Arch trailhead is the Chimney Top trailhead.

Near the entrance to the trail, there is a memorial placard. It’s a stark reminder to be careful when hiking on some trails with drop-offs and slick rocks. Overall, this is a fairly easy hike if you’re able bodied.
