Here’s a early prototype teaser trailer of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie from 2004 that features unfinished animation, animatics, a different voice over that wasn’t in any promotional trailers nor promos of the film, and shots and scenes that’s not seen in the final version of the film. This was found by Vimeo user Jules Levy on March 18, 2016. Which according to the user the trailer was made as a parody of the Sam Rami Spider-Man films at the time in fact the studio loved the concept so much that they were starting piecing a rough draft of it but since the internet wasn’t widespread at the time they end up scrapping it. It was uploaded on YouTube by spongeis5 in November 19, 2018 but the upload became unlisted for unknown reason. Despite the SpongeBob SquarePants movie is regarded as not only one of the best Nickelodeon movies of all time but also one of the best animated films or just films in general of all time and whether if you think the franchise should’ve ended after the first movie or glad that SpongeBob is still on the air to this day and like the post movie and post sequel eras, there does seem to be missing material from the film that’s not just no where to be seen in the finished product, but not even on the DVD and Blu-Ray releases as well. On February 28, 2023, Twitter user GenesisJam found a photo of Patrick looking at SpongeBob holding a calendar that says March 13th, which appears to be fully animated and not just that the SpongeBob wiki even lists deleted scenes that seems to be never been officially released like few scenes of Sandy talking to SpongeBob (no not the realistic squirrel scene), SpongeBob and Patrick smashed against a wall, Mr. Krabs appearing in SpongeBob’s bedroom, and some scenes in trailers and tv spots that’s no where to be seen neither in the film or home video releases. Which is pretty bizarre they included animatics, but not fully animated scenes. To this day none of the other scenes has ever been officially released to the public which remains lost. The only way these scenes could surface is that if someone worked on the film has them like on a flash drive or a Workprint, or if Paramount or Nickelodeon will ever officially release them. Which only time will tell if that’s the case.
