The OHSAA Division IV Championship game was played on 12-07-2019 at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The underdog Clyde Fliers, 10-4, went up against the undefeated 14-0, Licking Valley Panthers. The Panthers were no strangers when it comes to victories. The team was runners up in the Division IV and Division III football State Championships in 2001 and 2007 and had also won 11 conference titles in the past 13 years. Licking Valley ranked 3rd in the state of Ohio for the most all-time football playoff wins without a championship title. Clyde hadn't been to the title game since 1995 where they won 3-0 over the Kenton Wildcats in Division III when the game was played in Massillon, Ohio. Clyde's head coach Ryan Carter was also a runner up as a player in the state title game during the 1994 season after they lost to the Beloit West Branch Warriors by a score of 28-11. However, this time the coach would not be denied. His Fliers went on to dominate the Panthers by a score of 42-14 to win the school's second state title!
