Professor Jean-Marie Guéhenno is Arnold A. Saltzman Professor of Professional Practice in International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institute.

During his previous role as United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations (from 2000 to 2008), Prof. Guéhenno led the largest expansion of peacekeeping in the history of the UN. He oversaw the growth of the UN's peacekeeping capabilities, to include around 130,000 staff on 18 UN missions.

Prof. Guéhenno is considered a leading expert on peacekeeping, global governance and transnational security threats.

In this interview for United Nations University Conversation Series on Global Justice, Prof. Guéhenno draws on his extensive experience to discuss the nature of contemporary peace operations and the implications for global justice.
