Is the Panasonic S1H too good?

It's still too early to give a full assessment of the Panasonic S1H, but what we've seen so far has been incredibly impressive. With not only excellent full frame 4K 4:2:2 10-bit log but also full sensor readout 6K 4:2:0 10-bit log internal, the S1H has no business being as good as it is for $4000.

One thing needs to be made clear about this camera, though: it's a high-end video camera. If you don't plan to shoot in log, then this camera probably isn't for you. The Standard profile isn't the best on the S1H by default (though it is of course customizable), and honestly you probably shouldn't be shooting in Standard anyway. Log is very versatile, and since the high bitrate and bit depth options are available for in-camera recording, log has so many more advantages over Standard in this particular camera.

The S1H also introduces 6K full sensor readout 4:2:0 10-bit recording, which has many positive implications for filmmakers looking to produce 4K content.
