Madelyn’s Love For JKD at the NYMAA

“I have been a member at NYMAA for 3 years. It influenced me because my life basically revolves around JKD now. Instead of taking away an electronic when I get in trouble, my parents have had to threaten to take away karate classes.

To me it’s like family. I come here as often as possible, it’s an outlet just to have fun to exercise; to get a spot.

Ultimately, I’ve seen a social difference between my 6th grade self and now my going-into-freshman-year self. I’m a little more outgoing and I’m more confident in saying what’s on my mind instead of stepping back and shying away.

I’ve fallen many times kicking shield or just shadow boxing and everyone is so supportive, everyone says: “You can do it, you can get up!” and sparring as well, everyones supportive, everyone cheers each other on.

Yes, I would 100% recommend NYMAA to other people int he community. It’s an amazing environment. I love it so much and I couldn’t live without it.”
