2018 Trek Dual Sport 3 Hybrid Bicycle - First look feature overview

The Trek DS3 (Dual Sport 3) hybrid bicycle for 2018 comes with a great set of features. For $749 you will get a hybrid bike that is great around town errand runs, bike commuting, or as a trail bike on light trails.

Last year I purchased a Trek Dual Sport 1. It was a great bike and I had lots of trouble free fun using it as a commuter bicycle. My only regrets were that I wished I had purchased the Trek DS 3 instead so that I would have had hydraulic disc brakes and the Trek Blendr stem to mount lights and cameras. I ended up upgrading my DS 1 to DS 3 handlebars and a blend stem, but I still missed out on the hydraulic disc brakes.

For 2018 Trek has a great DS 3 that comes in either Trek Black or Waterloo Blue Pearl finish. The bike in this video is the Waterloo Blue Pearl - and it looks amazing! This color is similar to the classic blue on an old Vespa scooter.

The Dual Sport 3 comes loaded with great features like Shimano M315 hydraulic disc brakes, Acera and Alivio derailleurs, SR Suntour NEX front suspension, Bontrager wheels and tires, a treadless headset with the Blendr modular stem system...lots of great parts.

This makes the DS series a great choice if you can't make up your mind on what type bike you want. If you want a commuter, but also want a trail bike - the Dual Sport series is your best bridge between the two. It is important to note that the Dual Sport will not replace a mountain bike. You won't be doing jumps or digging into muddy trails with the small hybrid tires, but the frame and bars are a great bridge that gives just enough MTB feel to be good for smooth and easy trails while also being comfortable as a casual fun or commuter bicycle.
