I stopped in the town of Sandgerdi on the south-west coast to capture a shot of their lighthouse. New to Ilford Multigrade Deluxe paper, I was hoping the green filter would help me preserve the few clouds in the scene. Alas, this new paper responds to filters differently than Ilford Multigrade IV and the sky completely blew out. I took a shot with a #11 green filter and also without a filter at all.

Here I show the final developing step of a large format, 8x10 paper reversal print. Yes, it’s done in broad daylight with Ilford Multigrade Developer mixed at 1+9.

The overall process involves shooting a paper negative about a stop or two over normal exposure, developing the print, bleaching it with hydrogen peroxide, and then doing a final development in broad daylight to creative a positive (albeit horizontally reversed) image.
