Whittier (/ˈhwɪtiər/) is a city in Southern California in Los Angeles County, part of the Gateway Cities. The 2010 United States Census reported that Whittier had a population of 85,331. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 56,081 persons (65.7%); 55,117 (64.6%) White (28.3% Non-Hispanic White, 36.3% White Hispanic); 1,092 (1.3%) African American; 1,093 (1.3%) Native American; 3,262 (3.8%) Asian; 123 (0.1%) Pacific Islander; 20,848 (24.4%) from other races, and 3,796 (4.4%) from two or more races.

Boyle Heights, historically known as Paredón Blanco, is a neighborhood located in the region east of the Los Angeles River with almost 100,000 residents in Los Angeles, California. As of the 2000 census, there were 92,785 people in the neighborhood; 94.0% Latino, 2.3% Asian, 2.0% White (non-Hispanic), 0.9% African American, and 0.8% other races.
