Fixing The Tick In My 1986 Ford Ranger 2.9l Engine...Kinda

Описание к видео Fixing The Tick In My 1986 Ford Ranger 2.9l Engine...Kinda

Today we do some maintenance on my 1986 ford ranger. When I first bought the truck I noticed a ticking sound coming from the engine when warming up. After a couple hours of research I narrowed it down to possibly being something wrong with the lifters. I read multiple posts from forums of people with similar issues and decided to try one of the methods they used.

The method I used was to use a 5w-30 Oil with Lucas High Mileage Oil stabilizer to thicken the oil up a bit so it doesn't drip off the lifters as fast. So I added 4 quarts of STP Oil and 1 quart of the oil stabilizer. After warming up the truck I could barely hear the ticking at all!!

A couple days later I took the truck on a long drive and only noticed the ticking a couple times. It might've not solved the problem 100% but there definitely is a difference! I might even try a higher oil viscosity on my next oil change but don't want to thicken it up too much otherwise that'll Cause even more problems.

Let me know if you have something similar or have any other advice or questions!!
