Let’s start with facts—because facts don’t care about optics, feelings, or political spin. The ICE agents you keep seeing on TV? A whole lot of them are Latino. And that’s the excuse certain people use to claim immigration enforcement “can’t be racist.” But brown faces don’t erase racist outcomes. That argument doesn’t disprove racial targeting—it just tries to hide it behind representation.

Here’s what makes it worse. ICE exploded in size. Around early 2025, ICE was about 10,000. By early 2026, it was over 22,000. That’s roughly 12,000 new hires in about a year. If the Latino share is around 30%, that means roughly 3,600 Latino agents joined during the surge. So yeah… I guess about 3,600 people looked at the job posting and said, “Let me help the system drag my own community.”

And it gets even clearer at Border Patrol. Official DHS/EEOC numbers show Border Patrol is about 50.9% Hispanic/Latino and about 43.9% white, with Black and Asian agents barely showing up on the chart. Put ICE and Border Patrol together and you’re looking at a massive federal enforcement machine where Latino agents make up a huge chunk of the boots on the ground—while Latino communities take the biggest hit.

Then people turn around and ask Black Americans: “Why aren’t y’all out here protesting with us?” No—we’re resting. As the great Black American poet and songwriter of historic proportion, Jonathan Smith (Lil Jon), told the world: “If you don’t give a damn, we don’t give a f—.” You voted for the fire. You staffed the fire department. Don’t ask us to run into the flames.
