SECRET SOVIET SUBMARINE Spy Base BARBADOS & ABANDONED Lighthouse HARRISONS POINT

Описание к видео SECRET SOVIET SUBMARINE Spy Base BARBADOS & ABANDONED Lighthouse HARRISONS POINT

HARRISONS POINT in Barbados holds many secrets that even to this day many islanders are unaware of!
Most know of it for the Lighthouse built in 1925 now abandoned. But close by is a now derelict facility that kept many dark secrets during the period of 1957 -1979.
The facility, built and operated by the US Navy, housed Low Frequency Analysers and Recorders (LOFAR) which were spread far out into the ocean and used for detecting Russian Submarines during the COLD WAR.
A significant event in SOSUS history occurred on 6 July 1962 when the facility in Barbados made the first detection and identification of a Soviet nuclear submarine off the coast of Norway as it entered the Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom (GIUK) gap
