V&V Episode 119 Jon Ehlers(Bangladeafy) & NIN's The Downward Spiral

Jon is very much a New Yorker, though and through. Not exactly what I expected when approached with the idea of speaking to a "industrial" artist that makes heavy, synth driven punk about Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral. Further confounding was the idea that he has been hearing disabled for the majority of his life. That was something that made it irresistible to pass up. And I'm glad I didn't. Bangladeafy is carving out their own path of heavy synth based rock with a punk intensity and attention span. Most albums clocking in under 20 minutes. Their latest album, Vulture (being released June 21, 2024 on Nefarious Industries) is not different in that regard but there's certainly an evolution happening there and we touch on some of that in this conversation.
