E2 Elimination Reaction is a bimolecular elimination reaction that completes in a single step. In this reaction, the base attacks the beta hydrogen and the leaving group departs simultaneously.

Alcoholic KOH acts as a strong base because in alcohol medium, KOH completely dissociates and provides OH- ions which are strong nucleophiles. The alcohol solvent cannot effectively solvate the ions, making the base stronger compared to aqueous medium.
