I've played almost every wrestling game out there, but still some slipped through the cracks. I recently picked up PSone game New Japan Pro Wrestling: Toukon Retsuden 3 (aka 闘魂列伝3 aka NJPW Burning Spirit 3) for 100 yen (under $1) at HardOff recently.

It's longtime SmackDown developer Yuke's 3D wrestling series before being brought in by THQ. It features legendary Japanese stars like Jushin Thunder Liger, Great Muta, and Antonio Inoki; but also features American staples like Eddie Guerrero (as Black Tiger) Chris Benoit (Wild Pegasus) and the Steiners.

I decided to record my first hour of gameplay, and had Tomoko help me with translation. The gameplay was quite different from what I'm used to, so I struggled to do well. Still, hopefully you'll enjoy this look into a Japan-only retro wrestling game! This video doesn't show the edit mode stuff, which was actually pretty cool.

I may try to do further videos exploring the first hour of games I've never played. I have the Japanese originator of Power Moves Pro Wrestling, Japan-exclusive Tobal no. 2, and of course plenty of American-released games that I just haven't played yet. (Metal Gear Rising? Double Dragon IV?)
