The Ratha Yatra of Puri, also rendered as the Ratha Jatra (Odia: ରଥଯାତ୍ରା, lit. 'chariot festival') (/ˈrʌθə ˈjɑːtrɑː/, Odia pronunciation: [ɾɔt̪ʰɔ dʒat̪ɾa]) is considered the oldest and largest Hindu chariot festival celebrated annually, on the bright half of the lunar month of Ashadh (June-July). The festival is held at the city of Puri in the state of Odisha, India and associated with the deity Jagannath (a form Vishnu or Krishna). During the festival, three deities (Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra) are pulled in three massive, wooden chariots to Gundicha Temple whereby they reside there for a week and then return to the Jagnannath temple. Descriptions can be found in Brahma Purana, Padma Purana, the Skanda Purana, and the Kapila Samhita.
রথযাত্রা বা রথদ্বিতীয়া একটি আষাঢ় মাসে আয়োজিত অন্যতম প্রধান হিন্দু উৎসব। ভারতের ওড়িশা, ঝাড়খণ্ড , পশ্চিমবঙ্গ, পশ্চিমবঙ্গে ও বাংলাদেশে এই উৎসব বিশেষ উৎসাহ উদ্দীপনার মধ্য দিয়ে পালিত হয়। এছাড়া ইসকনের ব্যাপক প্রচারের জন্য এখন এটি বিশ্বব্যাপী অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। দীর্ঘ বিচ্ছেদের পর কৃষ্ণের বৃন্দাবন প্রত্যাবর্তনের স্মরণে এই উৎসব আয়োজিত হয়ে থাকে। ভারতের সর্বাধিক প্রসিদ্ধ রথযাত্রা ওড়িশার পুরী শহরের জগন্নাথ মন্দিরের রথযাত্রা। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পূর্ব মেদিনীপুরের মহিষাদল, শ্রীরামপুর শহরের মাহেশের রথযাত্রা, গুপ্তিপাড়ার বৃন্দাবনচন্দ্র মঠের রথ, কলকাতার রথ এবং বাংলাদেশের ইসকনের রথ ও ধামরাই জগন্নাথ রথ বিশেষ প্রসিদ্ধ।[২]

রথযাত্রা উপলক্ষে বিভিন্ন স্থানে মেলার আয়োজন করা হয়। পশ্চিমবঙ্গে রথযাত্রার সময় যাত্রাপালা মঞ্চস্থের রীতি বেশ জনপ্রিয়। শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ পরমহংসদেব, তাঁর স্ত্রী মা সারদা দেবী, নাট্যকার গিরিশচন্দ্র ঘোষ, সাহিত্য সম্রাট বঙ্কিমচন্দ্র চট্টোপাধ্যায়-সহ প্রমুখ ব্যক্তিরা রথের বিখ্যাত মেলা পরিদর্শনে আসতেন। শ্রী রামকৃষ্ণ বলতেন যাত্রাপালায় লোকশিক্ষা হয়।
