In this episode, I talk about archives, libraries, and the simple discipline of keeping records. I have worked in places where materials are protected, catalogued, and kept alive for the future. And every time I touch that kind of seriousness, Nigeria comes to my mind—and it is not a comforting thought.

Back home, we are not even in the conversation. We have lost materials, burned materials, thrown materials away, and then we still speak as if we are building a country. We cannot even tell ourselves the truth about our own numbers—because the census has been flawed for decades, and we keep moving forward like that does not matter.

This is where I use one word: bullshitting. Not just lying—bullshitting. The liar still has a relationship with truth, even if it is a dishonest one. The bullshitter does not care. He talks to suit the moment. And that attitude has entered everything: research, governance, education, planning, memory.

A country that cannot preserve its records cannot correct itself. It cannot even describe itself. And if you cannot describe your life accurately, you will keep repeating the same mistakes and calling it destiny.
