The model railroad videos are usually showing what railfans would see if they were out Train Watching on a typical day. Most of these Videos are done on the Minneapolis & North Bay Ry layout that is down in the basement.
The channel also is for those planning or building a Model Railroad – to provide some ideas of things to include or NOT include on the Layout.

One or two Videos are added each week. Each video is about 10 minutes in length.

The Minneapolis & Northwood Belt RR was a new concept - to do a second route and time period on the layout.
The usual route for the layout is from Minneapolis to St. Cloud, Brainerd and Duluth on the old GN and NP during the 70s, 80, or 90s. Rod’s idea was to model to the South rather than to the North. The route ran from Minneapolis to Owatonna, Faribault, Glenville, Manly and Mason City. A second set of depots and car cards were prepared. The timeframe was in the late 1950s.
The group thought that the concept was a success – 80 sessions have been completed.

The new route ran from Minneapolis to Mason City on a combined Rock Island, Milwaukee Road, Chicago Great Western, Minneapolis & St. Louis track.
The prootype railroads all ran on sections of each other with trackage rights in Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa.

Rod brought Rock Island, Milwaukee and other passenger trains for the trains. To create videos, again, Rod used photos of the models and real trains. Rod also added rock and roll music from around 1960 to add to enhance the effect.

Some of the songs were actually recorded at the SOMA Record Co. studio which was across the street from the Rock Island Yard on 26th Avenue and 26th Street in South Minneapolis. Soma Records was owned by Amos Heilicher and Soma was "Amos" spelled backwards. The company started in 1954 and began recording: polkas, rock & roll music and old-time country & western. Their first hit singer was Bobby Vee.
