Ram Promaster parking brake front cable replacement

Описание к видео Ram Promaster parking brake front cable replacement

I could not find a video anywhere of someone doing this, so I thought I would contribute by making my own.

There are plenty of videos on servicing the midpoint hinge that connects the front cable to the rear link, and I did have that issue (solved with repeated WD40 application), but I also had my front-section of parking brake cable repeatedly stick to the point of seizing up.

Before replacing the part, I did try to inject cable lube (and used the specific tool for doing so) - but only a little lube was able to get in and it actually made the problem worse.

Dealership wanted $420 to do the job. I got the cable for $125+tax from a local dealer (could have gotten it for ~$90 or so if I was willing to wait on shipping) and swapped the cables in about 90 minutes or so, approximately.

I will note some differences I encountered: the newest version of the cable ends in 'AF' as of the time I bought it - the original part that was in my van was the 'AB' version I think. The new version is very slightly longer, so I used the adjustment nuts to pull it back as far as I could - it's still a tad long, but I think I should be able to raise up the connection point on the parking brake handle to take up the rest of the slack - even before doing that though, it is working.
