Segment 8 of the Colorado Trail part 2 which is Day 5 for us. Today we start at Searle Pass, hike to Kokomo Pass and then down to Camp Hale. Searle Pass, elevation 12,034 ft. Kokomo Pass, elevation 12,027 ft. Both mountain passes are in the Gore Range of the Rocky Mountains. Camp Hale was a U.S. Army training facility constructed in 1942 for the 10th Mountain Division at an elevation of 9,200 feet above sea level.
