Fabrezan is a commune of 1,300 residents located on the banks of the Orbieu River in the Languedoc region of Southern France. The village is the setting for half of my book “Amour, Wine and Real Estate”. The narratives portray the personalities and lifestyle that shape village existence rapidly vanishing within contemporary society.

Fabrezan has Gallo-Roman origins and features a 12th century castle and restored windmill. The core of the village remains architecturally frozen. The village was the accidental birthplace of 19th century poet and inventor Charles Cros. His proponents claim that he preceded Thomas Edison with the invention of the phonograph. A small Cros museum rests atop the mayor’s office. My former house was across the street. Charles Cros remains forgotten today as Fabrezan slumbers forward.
