The man who shot two Boone County deputies before turning the gun on himself has been identified through court documents as Justin Chapman.

The deputies were at Chapman's Service Road home Thursday night at around 9:30 to serve a warrant. Just after 10 p.m., deputies went into the home. That's when the sheriff's office says the 39-year-old Chapman opened fire, hitting two deputies. Chapman then barricaded himself inside his apartment.

The deputies were taken to the hospital. One was flown to the hospital, the other was taken by ambulance.

On Friday, the Boone County Sheriff's Office said the deputies are stable and in good spirits. One of the deputies was released from the hospital on Friday.

Neighboring units were evacuated and a SWAT team was brought in.

Eventually, they went in to find Chapman dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A neighbor named Jessica said she and her mother had several strange interactions with Chapman.

"Yes and no, 'cause it, even my mom said when I called her about it, 'cause I had heard through my friend, she was like, I knew this was gonna happen. And in a way I kind of did too, just because like, it just seems like he would get better and then he would get worse," she said when asked if Thursday's incident came as a surprise.

No one else was hurt.
