Описание к видео Make a Sphere from Firewood and Epoxy Resin! // Woodturing (Ep. 95)

In this video I show how I made a sphere-ish orb from a piece of eucalyptus firewood after filling the voids with colored epoxy resin. The process is really simple it just takes time to prepare the wood for turning and make a couple cup jigs for the lathe head and tail stocks to hold the sphere to true it on multiple axes. I used a combination of carbide scrapers and gouges to turn the sphere. The final shaping was done with the wings of a fingernail grind bowl gouges. To finish the sphere I sprayed on 15 coats of lacquer, sanded from 120 grit to 12,000 grit, and polished on a buffing wheel with wax. I also made a small stand from a little bit of left over resin from a previous resin pour.
