Baakiyalakshmi is an Indian serial in Tamil television operating on Star Vijay. Baakiyalakshmi "Baakiya" is a soft-natured and devoted wife, mother and daughter-in-law. She is married to Gopinath "Gopi" and they have three children, Chezhiyan, Ezhilan and Iniya. Gopinath has a secret affair with his ex-fiancée, Radhika, who lives as a single mother to her daughter, Mayura. Radhika befriends with Baakiya, unaware that she is Gopi's wife. Baakiya's elder son, Chezhiyan marries his school love, Jennifer "Jenny".
Eventually, Baakiya realizes that she is limited to household life and decides to create her own identity. Baakiya's younger son, Ezhilan, Radhika and Jenny help her to start a masala business, which is opposed by Gopi and his mother, Eshwari. Baakiya's daughter, Iniya is expelled from school, after which Gopi tries to stop Baakiya's business. However, Baakiya manages to reverse Iniya's expulsion.
Later, Ezhilan finds that Gopi has an affair with a woman, unaware that it's Radhika. Meanwhile, Radhika's husband, Rajesh blackmails Gopi and Radhika. He instigates Mayura against them. Gopi's father, Ramamoorthy finds Gopi's affair with Radhika and decides to expose them. However, he is paralyzed and loses his speech. Radhika's mother wants Gopi to marry Radhika. Gopi and Radhika go to apply divorce for Baakiya. Gopi finds it hard to give her the papers and deceives her into signing the paper to obtain her share of the company he owns.
