A 12 to displacement Hallig 35 under "WindGear" selfsteering, beam reach point of sail, location: North sea.
The WindGear device is equipped with a worldwide unique yaw dampening mecanics, which prevents the movement parallel to the waves on running courses. Its servo oar has been built by the ship's owner after the measures obtained from the WindGear manufacturer. For the usage of the bathing ladder, the ship's owner constructed himself a mounting frame for the device, which can be swung to the side, when on anchor.
The wheel adaptor for the steering ropes also has been built by the ships owner.

The Hallig 35 is a 4 m wide steel ship, has only 1.5 steering wheel turns hard/hard and is equipped with a so called Becker rudder. This rudder type increases the steering efficiancy, but on the other hand it needs strong arms at the helm.
The servo oar of the WindGear has been adapted by computer aided means to cope with the big steering forces needed for this type of rudder and boat.
