SIARGAO, the tear-drop shaped island in Surigao del Norte, often gives the impression that it is exclusive to surfers and expensive to visit. Wrong. I discovered after spending six days on a solo backpacking adventure that Siargao offers many activities beyond surfing, and enjoy them on a budget.
Siargao is now considered as the best destination for solo travelers in South-east Asia according to Lonely Planet, and I'm not surprised. It offers limitless adventures, has the friendliest people, and if you know how to get around, it is a paradise that can be enjoyed on a budget.
