SELF SUFFICIENCY
Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”  Henry Ford once said.
This is the day to day Motivational quote to the KE 0309 Caregivers and the Church

Barely two years ago, this project was launched with 180 Participants recruited.
It was a miracle not only for the Church but also for entire Tseikuru community because it was the first Compassion assisted Project in Tseikuru Subcounty.

The caregivers were taken for a Benchmarking at KE 469 Mwarangeni CDC where they received insights on the training on Resource Mobilization, the task ahead was to make sure they work hard to become self reliable as a Project.

In this light, the Caregivers have pooled resources together and erected a permanent Concrete post fence around the Compound having raised 200,000 thousand in 4 months, this money was purely used to purchase construction materials as they provide raw materials like sand, Ballast and labour.

Boosted by a Greengrams bumper harvest, the caregivers in collaboration with the church members started a 1 Million shilling fundsraising to purchase a project Land. They were able to raise 350,000 thousand by December 2023. Where the church also contributed 360,000 thousand making it a total of 660,000 thousand. Which will pay the first installment for the land purchase in July 2024 as per the agreement with the land owner.

The advent of the project forced the church to have an extra Sanitation facility to cater for the 180 program participants with their caregivers. The Church only had a 7 door flash toilet that served the 80 church members.
The existing sanitation facility would be so much overwhelmed every time we had joint events.
The Project director raised a Proposal for a 16 door Modern Pit Latrine, this Proposal was funded by Compassional International.
We are able to construct a Decent Modern 6 door bathrooms, 8 door pit latrines and 2 Decent latrines for the Physically Challenged.
This facility costed 1.65 Million in total where compassion funded us with 1.3 million and the church contributed 350,000 thousand shillings to the project.
This has helped in improving the hygiene of all the Program participants as well as the Church members who have been struggling with the 7 door squeezed toilets.

We also have a water project that was done by the Church and the caregivers.
The church dug a shallow well within the church compound, the caregivers through their Monthly contributions were able to purchase the construction materials for putting up a 14 - feet high concrete water tank. The church catered for all the labour charges for erecting the tower and plumbing charges.
This has eliminated water shortages within the project.
We are looking forward to start supplying water in Tseikuru town.

All these milestones have been achieved in less than 2 years. As KE 0309, we hope to achieve more in the coming year through the supportive efforts of the Church and the Caregivers.

To God be all the glory!
