Hello there ! This is an original song based on the work of Gambargin, an (amazing) artist that draws historically related artworks. I would like to thank her enormously for her collaboration on this project and on her beautiful artworks !

This song is also inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R & the METRO 2033 soundtrack

The song is about fictionnal lore of the "Autonomous Oblast" : When Russian archaologist Vadim I. Fedorov first travelled to the region in 1903, he discovered a vast expanse of area populated with more than 400 kurgan burial mounds of varying sizes. Amazed by the sheer size of the complex, Vadim launched three expeditions to excavate the kurgans from 1905 till 1918, with last expedition being abruptly halted by the outbreak of Russian civil war after the bolshevik revolution.

With the rise of the Soviet Union, the area that became known as 'Autonomous Oblast' was designated for various soviet gulag colonies for political prisoners and deported minorities by the NKVD. Vadim's findings were seized by the soviet authorities and travel to the region was banned. As such, the kurgans were mostly left alone, undisturbed

After the fall of Soviet union, Vadim's findings were released to the public and several archeologists studied the artefacts unearthed during his three expeditions of the kurgan complex. Various findings dating back to the Scythians, Sarmatians, Hunnic, Turkic up until the Mongol period (spanning over 2000 years) were identified. According to Vadim's note, the area was held sacret by the local nomads and many of their prestigious warriors were buried here since ancient time. It was also later found out that Vadim had to bribe local authorities to 'pacify' the angry nomads who violently resisted his expedition to their sacret kurgans.

It is estimated that there are still roughly 367 kurgans that remained unexplored in the vast region of Autonomous Oblast. Archeologists speculated that the remaining burials may contain priceless artefacts that would greatly aid the understanding of the past nomadic civilizations that passed through this region.

Unfortunately, the local nomads who settled in the region remains violently hostile to archaeologists or any outsiders who attempt to 'desecrate' these sacred grounds. Even after the 'Voryakov incident' that took the lives of 13 archeologists, both Russian and Ukranian authorities still refuses to police the region, citing the Autonomous Oblast's extreme isolation and dangerous environment.

To this day, any notion of archeological expedition to the Kurgan Complex is next to impossible and highly dangerous. One can only wonder what mystery and discovery that lies beneath those burial mounds....
