UCLA Anderson’s Easton Technology Management Center hosted a pitch session featuring the winners of the 2024 cross-campus Innovation Challenge, a program that partners teams from various UCLA schools to tackle major societal issues through technology. The challenge is divided into three tracks: healthcare, sustainability and generative AI.

• GenoGuard is a gene therapy platform to treat age-related diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Type 2 diabetes. Its goal is to improve healthspan while addressing the root causes of age-related diseases at the molecular level. Delivered via an adeno-associated virus, the GenoGuard cocktail targets inflammation and energy balance pathways to enhance cell protection and repair. The solution is personalized, using AI to tailor treatments based on individual genetic profiles.

• Blaze Power is a sustainable, cost-effective battery technology that uses carbon-coated lithium manganese iron phosphate to eliminate reliance on toxic materials like nickel and cobalt. The company’s goal is to make electric vehicles more affordable, with a long-term impact on the clean energy market. The battery’s increased lifespan, safety and recyclability make it viable for passenger and commercial EVs.

• Rupia AI is a generative AI platform aimed at addressing the lack of credit access for small and medium-sized businesses in emerging markets. The goal is to facilitate greater access to credit by providing AI-driven solutions to overcome traditional financial barriers.
