This video is a tutorial on how to perform an analysis of a bicycle frame in ANSYS workbench using beam elements. The tutorial is based on Case Study B from pages 355 to 363 of the book "Practical Stress Analysis with Finite Elements" by Dr. Bryan J. Mac Donald. In this tutorial we show how to build the model by defining construction points in 3D space and then using these points to generate line bodies. We then define different cross sections and assign these cross sections to the various line bodies. We also show how to correctly join and merge line bodies that have different cross sections into a single part so that the analysis will solve correctly later on. This tutorial also covers how to define your own material in ANSYS Workbench and how to correctly mesh line bodies for use with beam elements. We detail how to apply fixed constraints, regions constrained in certain directions only and how to apply forces in particular directions. Finally, we show how to get results from beam elements using the "Beam Tool" in workbench and how to display these results to understand how the model is behaving.
