Ultimate Crispy Hash Browns| How To Make Hash Browns At Home

Hey Guys,

Today, I will show you how to make crispy diner style hash browns at home. This easy recipe can be made at home in minutes. As you will see in the video, the key to getting very crispy hash browns is to rinse the hash browns in cold water and squeeze as much of the starch out as possible.

Ingredients:

One large grated russet potato
about a tablespoon of canola oil
tablespoon of butter
salt, pepper, garlic powder to season

Directions:

1. Grate one potato (russet)
2. Place grated potatoes into a bowl of cold water and swish around. Squeeze the water out of the hash browns and set them aside. Discard starchy water and refill the bowl with fresh cold and add hash brown again, swishing around and then squeezing the water out of them. Place potatoes on a paper towel and press down on them to remove as much water as possible. Discard starchy water.
3. Heat up a skillet on the stove, (I used my cast iron), to medium heat, add oil and one tablespoon of butter.
4. Once the skillet is nice and hot and the butter has melted, add the hash browns. Be sure to spread them apart and make sure all pieces are connected
5. Cook on one side until brown and crispy, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder, then flip to the other side and cook until that side is brown and crispy (about 5 minutes per side).
6. Remove hash browns from skillet and serve.

7. Top with sour cream, cheese and scallions or just eat as is.
