IV therapy - Primary line priming and rate set up

In this video, I go over step-by-step how to prime and set up the IV rate for a primary IV line.

Assemble your equipment: 00:16
Perform hand hygiene: 00:28
Remove tubing from container - straighten & check tubing: 00:55
Slide the tubing clamp just below chamber: 01:26
Close the clamp: 01:46
Inspect the bag for expiry date, clarity of content, leaks: 02:22
Remove protective blue cover from entry port: 02:45
Remove the cap from spike - insert spike into the bag: 03:10
Hang solution bag on the IV pole: 03:29
Squeeze chamber to fill with solution until the line: 03:44
Remove the protective cap and maintain sterility: 04:00
Slowly release clamp letting fluid fill tube, getting rid of bubbles, inverting ports: 04:13
Re-clamp tubing - cover with cap to maintain sterility: 05:50
Adjust infusion flow rate according to MD's orders: 06:35
