French Broad Section Nine

French Broad Section Nine. This is an iconic southeastern run. The storied French Broad River runs through Western North Carolina and into Tennessee. Section IX, or FB9 as it is known, boasts the biggest and best rapids on this river. The Cherokee called this section of river "Tahkeeosteh" or "Where They Race". This would be the first time in 2 years that Dirt Dobber paddled a whitewater boat. This was also only the second time ever! He was looking to get his PFD on FB9 and that day had finally come. We also joined Mitchell Childers and Tim Simpson from Crossed Paddles as well as Shane Custer from The River Paddlers. The Trio of Julie, Jared and Kaci would help us get safely down the river - at least to Stackhouse. We were on our own as we ventured towards Kayaker's Ledge, Frank Bells and Hot Springs.
