slate chippings: https://goo.gl/qtZ1SW although these can also be bought in bulk at most garden centres.

For this tutorial I mostly used a Rosemary and Co. Series 33 Size 2 brush, except for the initial base colours where I was using a Windsor & Newton Series 7 Size 2.

I also used Testors Dullcote matte varnish to protect the figures.
