"Obviously there is a difference when we celebrate Ramadan here in UK. In a muslim or Arab country all the shops, all the cafes and all the restaurants are closed during the daytime. They all open when they have broken their fast for business as usual."

"We come to Ladbroke Grove as a lot of the Moroccan community is here and all the ingredients we need for the holy month of Ramadan. We come to this shop here and buy all that we need things like Moroccan sweets as we would at home, also halal meat and chicken. All that we need for Ramadan."

"During the Iftar time or just before that people come to the restaurant. We get very, very busy. Everybody walks into the restaurant at the same time, they all want the food at the same time, the kitchen is chaotic and basically for the customers we offer them free dates, we give them pakoras, we give them fruits and naturally if you haven`t eaten all day when you taste those things and you want to eat more so they start ordering from the main menu and basically everybody wants their food at the same time."

"The difference between Ramadan here and in my home is that I usually spend it with my family. Whereas here I am with my friends eating out."

"In the house we have the same in London as in Morocco. We make harira soup, we have dates and Shubekia and Moroccan sweets. In Morocco the markets open from noon onwards but in London it's the same all year round. When it is time to break your fast at sunset, here in London the atmosphere is quiet. But here at home it's the same as Morocco with the same food, sitting with the family and we hear the call to prayer on TV."

"I was born here in the UK and I've only ever known Ramadan here in London. I enjoy Ramadan here. I spend most of my time here with my family, eat my cultural food, go to my local mosque. I love it here but I would like to experience Ramadan at home in Morocco."

Ramadan is celebrated in Muslim countries throughout the world, and increasing numbers of Muslims find themselves abroad during this holy month.
For Muslims in London, it can be a challenge to adhere to the rigid regime and assemble the traditional ingredients to break the fast.
STORY LINE:
The heart of "little Morocco" is a street in west London with lots of Muslim shops.
Here there are Ramadan specialities that are typically eaten in Morocco.
Mohammed Bakkali, a Moroccan Muslim, comes here because it's the only place to find traditional Moroccan Ramadan sweets.
