The group exhibition “Canvas and Books: Reflections on Being” invites you to immerse yourself in the depths of this existential exploration. This collection is the result of a public call among contemporary Iranian artists; works that have been selected not by chance, but from deep layers of concept and originality of expression to bring to life the eternal questions of man. By pairing painting and artist book, each artist brings to mind two opposing faces of existence: the canvas, like a timeless mirror that captures being in an eternal moment and speaks directly to the soul of the viewer; as if the colors and forms are pure presence itself, forcing us to confront the question “What is being?” in a raw way. On the other hand, the artist book flows like a river of becoming; each page is a window to the layers of time, memory, and unfinished possibilities. Touching the paper and moving from page to page is the very act of becoming philosophical – a reminder that any narrative is incapable of fully embracing existence, leaving us suspended on the border between intuition and interpretation. This dual confrontation between the stillness of the canvas and the dynamism of the book is not only a dialogue between media, but also an invitation to reflect on existential dualities: presence and absence, eternity and transience, intuition and narrative. The themes that emerge from the works – identity versus oblivion, the fragility of memory, and the human connection to the infinite – call us to the depths of ourselves.
