The Oud Fundamentals (Level 1)

There is a moment when the oud first rests upon your leg, a silence before the sound. This course is made for that moment.

For those who have never touched the oud, and for those who have… but seek to return to its beginning with intention, with respect, and with a desire to build something lasting.

The Oud Fundamentals is not just a collection of lessons. It is a structured, clear, and thoughtful path, to allow you to understand what you are playing, why each movement matters, and how technique becomes expression.
This is part of the Certificate Programs at the School of Oud Online.

The course runs over three months.
In that time, students are expected to engage fully: to practice, to ask, to listen deeply, and to build real experience through disciplined effort.
It is offered in both Arabic and English, welcoming all who carry the love of this instrument, wherever they are in the world.

The result of this course is more than progress — it is a paradigm shift:
You will begin to play not only from written sheet music but also by ear — with intuition and awareness.
No prior knowledge of reading music is required. You will grow into both.

Throughout the journey, feedback will come from the team at the School of Oud Online — personalized, honest, and encouraging.
And by the end of these three months, a Certificate of Completion is awarded.

That certificate is not just a paper. It is a sign that you are ready for Level 2, and from there, the full path ahead.
Continue forward, and you will arrive at the Soloist Certification —
a place where you may carry this knowledge onto stages… or into your own teaching.

We’ll meet in the classroom, with the oud between us, and the music ahead.
