I now have an expanded version of the “Transition Memes” that I showed in my presentation. This is a tool we have been using in our educational work at the Planet Project. We don’t own this or feel we invented it, and I invite anyone to use this conceptual, memetic framework and add to it. They’re fun to dream up. Notice at the bottom in the “Simplified Version” that it kind of boils down to just three things. Also, the terms “Material Culture” and "Planetary Culture” come from my book Emerging World, but are equivalent to Riane’s terms "Dominator Culture” and "Partnership Culture”. We envision this framework being given to an army of IG-ers, TikTok-ers, YouTube-ers, filmmakers, etc. to produce a huge volume of media around these memes, in their own unique ways of conveying them.

Roger Briggs co-founded the Planet Project in 2021, a non-profit organization inspired by his book Emerging World (2021). Roger spent his professional career in the public schools as an award-winning physics teacher, team-builder, and program developer, always with an eye toward creating environments that maximized human thriving and performance. His Girls Cross Country teams at Fairview High School won three Colorado State Championships over five years, while his love of the mountains and Nature found expression in rock climbing where he pioneered many cutting-edge first ascents. Since retiring from the public schools, he wrote the book, Journey to Civilization (2013), and founded and grew a local non-profit for public lands stewardship based on deep partnerships between local governments, businesses, and the public.
