Shipping Container Pool Filters River Water as it Floats Through France

As summer hits its peak, Paris and Bordeaux-based 2:pm Architectures and Dauphins Architecture recently unveiled plans to transform an old barge into an incredible floating shipping container pool. The summertime retreat can sail the waters of the Garonne River or dock on-shore and serve as a movable park for the city of Bordeaux to enjoy. The eco-conscious oasis repurposes an industrial barge, shipping containers, and it saves energy and resources by filtering water from the Garonne to fill its pools.
The eight moveable storage containers house amenities for the makeshift swimming club. Each is allocated for different purposes – reception/check in, an office for lifeguards, a locker room, men and women’s showers and toilets, and a small infirmary. They are located on-deck while the barge floats down the Garonne, but when the pool is docked the shipping containers can be lifted by crane and placed on shore – expanding the complex, and creating more deck space.
